Nothing much

I don't really have much interesting to write about, but I said I was going to keep writing and I'm gonna do it.

Work is going well.  I have already had five new to me clients call for an appointment.  Lots of people appear to be moving up from California again.  Not sure how I feel about that.

It continues to be super cold (for us).  Today it got up to 40 and I almost didn't need a coat.  There have been days when it never got above freezing.  I know the midwestern contingent is laughing at me, but that's really cold here.

Tomorrow is a federal holiday, but no one here gets it off except Emily, and she is making plans to spend it with friends.

And that's about all I've got.  I will get more interesting, I'm sure, but right now it's just about doing the writing.

    Good for you! I need to do more with the writing too. I've gotten into a lazy habit of posting every 3-4 days. Sometimes posts where nothing is going on become quite creative! I am ready for some rain!! Alison had to work today and wasn't very happy about that. :)

Last day

What a last day.  Tax season is always stressful, and the last day is always hard, but this one was particularly bad.  In a normal year I would have had things wrapped up on Sunday.  I worked hard all day that day and left feeling happy that I was all caught up.  I had a couple of appointments Monday, no big deal. Monday I came in to a full schedule, mostly procrastinators who knew they owed, waited til the last minute and were mad about everything.  Even some of my own clients, who started months ago, didn't come in to finish until Monday.  They wandered in without an appointment and wanted in depth planning and a nice chat, which would have been fine if they hadn't been piling up in the waiting room. Corona virus

It's very interesting living a few miles from ground zero.  My nephew attends a school that sent nursing students to the nursing home where there are multiple cases.  And today he found out that one of his professors visited a relative at that same nursing home the day before it broke out there.  That professor is self-quarantining, and my brother's family are staying well away from my mom for a few weeks. I have my usual spring cough and sniffles, it's allergies.  I get it every year.  No big deal.  Except every time I cough, people jump and look at me funny. I went shopping Sunday night, because we were running out of toilet paper.  The toilet paper aisle was bare.  The store looked like it had been stripped by locusts.  People are hoarding toilet paper and water (why water?  Water shouldn't be affected!) in case we have to stay home for awhile.  Even Costco has people posted at the front door letting people know they're out o...

Grocery store

Today I stopped at the grocery store for the first time since this all started.  Emily and Joe have done some shopping, and I always have a good supply of stuff, so I just haven't needed to go until now. I went during the dinner hour, when it's usually packed.  There were probably one third the number of people I would expect to see at that time of day.  About half the people were wearing masks and gloves.  There was a young man stationed at each door, wiping off the handles of the carts before people took them.  There's plexiglass sheets up in front of the checkers and the Starbucks barista.  There are decals on the floor, directing you which way to go in the aisle (they're narrow enough that the store decided to make them one way only.)  Most annoying, since I always go THIS way in that aisle, and now you must go THAT way.
